Writing Narrative

I am learning to write a narrative.
I'll know I can do this when my stories have:

- Character - Setting - Introduction - Problem - Climax - Conclusion - Descriptive language such as smilies and metaphors - Character speech using speech marks

               This is my narrative plan.


               This is narrative .I have been writing. .It's is about a sleepover .

               Something I found hard was trying to put my ideas together.
               Something I learned was there is a problem in a narrative.

             

Taiao

In Taiao I have been learning about chickens. I have learned about the parts of a chicken, some facts about chickens, the parts of an egg (which I used to make an omelette), and what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy. Something I learned was parts of an egg and how to cook an omelette.

Music

In music with Mr McCullum I have been learning to play the ukulele.

I'll know I've been successful when I hold the ukulele correctly and can strum the cords.

Something I learned was how to use a ukulele and strum it play a new song .

Writing Report

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found hard was finding facts about a blue duck.

Art Don Binney

I am learning to create art inspired by Don Binney .

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I leaned was a Whio can be found on the ten dollar note. 

Maths Tapawara

I am learning to sort fractions with different denominators .

I'll know I can do this when I can order fractions based on their size.

Something I leaned was division.

Learning Qualities

I am learning how to communicate.

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can communicate with others.

One way I can communicate is by using my hand and my feet but not talking. 

Reading Whio

I am learning to apply our prior knowledge to a text.

I'll know I can do this when I can think of ways I have connections to a text and I can use those connections to help decode unfamiliar words and ideas.
Something I enjoy was talking about my book with my group.

Creative Writing - Scripts

We are learning to write scripts to create a play.

We know we are successful if our script has:
- multiple characters
- a setting
- character speech
- stage direction (in a different colour to the speech)

Once we have written our scripts we are creating the plays using Puppet Pals.

My play is called "The Princess"

Peace Week 2017

have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led conference

My highlight at  student Led conference was  my statistics  because I let my mum look at it .

I am most proud of sharing my maths because I finished  my SML.
I think my parents enjoyed it because I finished most of my learning.
Next time I would like to make things a bit better and be more descriptive about my learning and words.

Dance

 At Dance we are learning  to do salsa and hip hop.
I enjoyed salsa because you use your feet to do steps.
I learned that hip hop is a bit of a faster dance.

Something I learned was that a pictograph is about pichto .

I didn't go to a play date because it was raining.
I didn't  zoom to the moon.
I didn't  know that I was going home.
But l did know that  I was moving house .

I didn't eat an ice block  because my mum said l can't .
I didn't eat a worm in my apple .
I didn't eat pop core because my dad ate it all .
But l did eat chips because I went to the movies .

I didn't see a horse because l went to Queens town .
I didn't see my sister up a tree .
I didn't see my friend because I was in the bath room.
But I did see the sea at the beach.

Next time I would like to make it funny.

Punchy Poetry

I have been learning to create an example of onomatopoeia.
This is my example of  onomatopoeia  woofs fizzles splatters .
Next time I would like to come up with more examples of my onomatopoeia.

Dear Jeremy
I am an apple tree on your farm I am writing to thank you for giving me lots of water in summer.I am thankful for you killing my weeds so they don't keep growing and suffocate me.I appreciate you looking after me when it is cold or windy or its too hot.Do you know how much I love living  on your farm.It's fun living in your farm because there are lots of other trees there .

Taiao Programme

I have been learning to be safe around the kitchen.
We made apple crumble it was  very yummy
I learned that when you go and get  a sharp thing  and  your friend wants to have  a go you put it down then they will pick it  up.
Something I would like to learn more about is how to mix faster in the kitchen.
